Art Therapist

Job Description
Provide individual and group Art Therapy to clients in the New Vision Wilderness Therapy Program two days per week. Develop individualized interventions to assist clients in meeting their treatment goals. Must be comfortable working in a wilderness setting with variable weather conditions and remote locations. Clients range in age from 12-25 years.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Create a space that is both emotionally and physically safe
  • Provide weekly documentation of individual and group sessions
  • Attend clinical meetings
  • Travel independently in and out of the field
  • Transport and maintain art materials
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from a college or university accredited by the American Art Therapy Association
  • Experience with Adolescent and Young Adult population
The ideal candidate:
  • Uses effective communication skills
  • Can work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Is independent, creative and highly motivated
  • Has experience in the delivery of clinical services in a residential or wilderness setting
  • Has experience with Trauma and Attachment
  • Use a relational and strength based approach
  • Wants to be a part of a growing local arts and social services non-profit
  • Has a willingness to learn
  • Can be flexible
  • Loves the outdoors
  • Is able to navigate the wilderness safely

Per diem
Dependent on experience


  • The wilderness is your office
  • Clients tend to be highly motivated and engaged in therapy
  • ATR Supervision possible
  • Potential for additional opportunities with Base Camp Studio
